November California Tax Update Seminar & The Affordable Care Act

Although we have been keeping our CPE customers abreast of the tax aspects of the Affordable Care since it was originally passed, 2013 and 2014 are the years that key elements of the Act are implemented. For 2013 we have the very complicated Net Investment Income Surtax and beginning January 2014 the mandatory insurance requirement begins. In addition, the IRS has issued a flood of regulations during August and September dealing with the Act.

We have been on top of this issue and will provide our students with a very comprehensible coverage of the issues. We have added a whole new section to the Big Book of Taxes (the seminar text) dealing with the Affordable Care Act. We will teach you how the Premium Assistance Credit works, is calculated, how it can be used in advance as a subsidy against insurance premiums paid through “Covered California,” California's new insurance exchange. We will also teach you how the insurance exchange ties into the insurance mandate for 2014 and the consequences of not being insured.   The presentation will include several case studies where you will see the various options your client will face and the tax and consequences of their choices.
