Google Places Steps Up the Importance of Local Search for CPAs and Tax Accountant Websites

If you do not have a Google Places directory listing by now, you are going to start seeing your Tax Accountant website fall farther down the Google results. Google is making a play on monopolizing local search and putting the Google Places listings above the traditional free organic search listings.

This means that you must strategically build your Google Places directory listing so that your keywords are prominent and your places ad gets higher rankings. Getting reviews to your listing is very important. Google will use this as an element of how high they should place you on the results page.

Don't be afraid. Ask clients (or clients that you consider friends as well) to review you. Make it simple by sending them an e-mail requesting their assistance in building your prominence.

An additional tool that Google is rolling out is the Google Tags. This is a yellow arrow next to your places listing. They will charge you a monthly fee for this prominent mark but it will help you stand out from the crowd.
